The Absolute Best NEW Android Web Browsers: 2016 Reloaded!

Best NEW Android Web Browsers!

Every year we come to this question, “What are the Best NEW Android Web Browsers?”

Just how much can anyone reasonably expect any browser to get any better than it currently is? The market is oversaturated with heavy hitters and for the most part, many people are satisfied with this. We can go on and write a reprint of the things we’ve seen in so many other articles but we’re not going to do that. Just as an example look at this list right here!

So, to make things easy for you all you need to really know is this:

  1. Chrome
  2. Firefox
  3. Dolphin
  4. Opera

Why then would you read any further? Ah… Good Question! You want something NEW! Something DIFFERENT, something INNOVATIVE? Maybe? Yes? OK! Moving along!

The Best Web Browsers you’ve (probably) never heard of!

This list was extremely hard to come up with. We’re talking hundreds of megabytes of downloading and weeding out those that don’t quite measure up. Not only was this a problem with bandwidth but it was irritating with trying to test these browsers as the rest were downloading. For this we tested the browsers on an LG 7″ Tablet running Lollipop 5.1.1.

WAIT! Why a tablet?

Tablets in our current market are remarkably underpowered dinosaurs of the mobile world. Many still rocking quad-core iterations clocked at only 1.2 Ghz or so still manage to stay tucked into our backpacks and purses for reading when we have a spare moment. Where tablets excel at is browsing. Most popular websites have two renditions of their layout. A desktop version and a mobile version. Tablets–for some reason–always render websites in desktop mode without having to check some box or looking for the link on the page that states, “View in Desktop.” We figured if a browser app ran well on a mediocre tablet then they should be no problem for most lower end phones.

Here are the top 11 (besides the usual top 3)

FLOATINGBROWSERFloating Browser

Gpc

The Floating Browser is a classic free floating web browser software, with the basic web features, the powerful floating feature that allows you to use window concept as the browser; you can zoom in and drag windows; at the same time, it will also monitor your clipboard for quick information search, and using a notification to call a floating browser to use at any time.

If you have the web page display issue, please go to the Settings, Browser, User Agent, and select the Honeycomb.

This one rocks.

In true multitasking fashion the browser windows behave just like an Internet Explorer window on a PC would. If you have a speedy device with lots of RAM this is the one to get.

ATLASWEBAtlas Web Browser

NextApp, Inc.

Atlas is a web browser that lets you take total control of your mobile web browsing experience: By removing undesired content and letting you take complete control over your web experience, Atlas uses less data, lowering CPU usage and preserving battery life. Sites load more quickly as large amounts of often poorly-written and inefficient JavaScript code related to advertising and tracking can be discarded.

This browser is legit.

There was an actual difference between the modes on the menu bar. Low-fi tended to work the best with my connection. The most important options are right there for you to see.

Pardon the pun.

This one is really mostly “eye candy.” That being said, the layout and theming is great if you happen to love cutesy apps. Otherwise, it’s a strong entry in basic web browsing.

At first sight this one here seemed to be all over the place. Once you get used to that, their context menus are awesome. Freedom is good, but sometimes you want someone else to do the work for you with what to look at and what to read about. Sometimes it’s better to have your dashboard curated for you.

DOLPHIN ZERODolphin Zero Incognito Browser

Dolphin

Dolphin Zero is one of the best incognito apps. It’s the incognito private browser and better than InBrowser. Dolphin Zero is ultra lightweight with only 500K app size. Dolphin Zero Incognito Browser brings peace of mind to users who wish to keep their personal information as safe as possible by automatically deleting data including browsing history, cache, passwords and cookies. It’s a safe browser.

Yet another incognito browser. The biggest difference is this is super small and it doesn’t store your info at all. There is no asking you if you want to delete it, it just doesn’t store it. The stripped down package is great for speeding the browser along.

ORFOXOrFox: Tor Browser for Android

The Tor Project

Orfox is built from the same source code as Tor Browser (which is built upon Firefox), but with a few minor modifications to the privacy enhancing features to make them compatible with Firefox for Android and the Android operating system. The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked.

This is not just a browser dedicated to the Tor Network but a browser that uses a lot of Firefox to get the job done so you have good things from both ends.

TANGRAMTangram

LATERAL SV, INC.

The computing experience, environment, and screen-size on mobile is very different from PCs and far from convenient. For users like you who rely on the web for tasks like research, planning, knowledge, exploration, analysis, and information collection, current mobile browsers are frustrating to use. Tangram is a task based mobile browser for professionals and power users who want to maximize their efficiency and productivity on mobile. It was built and designed to guarantee efficiency and productivity wherever you are. Tangram is quite simply, the most efficient mobile browser on Android.

By far the best browser for those pressed for time and needing to get tasks done. The video shows better than what we could explain but unless you have a speedy network you really can’t expect it to be that fast.

About our selections

We’ve done our best to provide you with insightful and interesting choices for your browsing habits. While we can understand the top tier apps are very unlikely to change, we stress that the beauty of Android lay in the freedom to choose. Choose what fits for you.

Our criteria was three-fold.

  1. Nothing below 3 Stars, we aimed for over 4, but there were some that needed a chance.
  2. No terrible thumbnails for the app. If they can’t make a great design what does that say for their browser? Even then we still gave a few chances.
  3. Browsers that were overly complicated were tossed out. We shouldn’t need a manual to use them and neither should you.

More can be said about why we chose the ones we did but we’re very confident that if you were to give them a chance you are going to understand exactly why we chose them. And if you want the tried and true, the top 3 to 4 are always a safe bet!

WARNING!

TOR stands for, “The Onion Router,” as the layers of connections end up hiding the information between sender and receiver. This level of the Internet is completely unregulated and very, very, very dangerous. We believe that there should be a place for the freedom to share information be the person in an oppressed country or state however there are those that use this freedom to pursue their own ends.

While browsing the Tor Network it is very important you have a VPN running and that you avoid content that is questionable or illegal in your jurisdiction. You WILL find Illegal Drugs, Illegal Activities, Hacking, Illegal Sexual Activity, and Extremely Offensive Material. DO NOT CLICK ON LINKS YOU ARE UNSURE OF.

Now that we’ve issued that warning you can also find many things that are actually positive concerning such an anonymous place. There are Blogs, Political Websites, Forums, Chans, and Anonymous Email and Messaging Services. Journalists who fear retribution from their host country will often post blogs or updates on their country’s current situation on the Tor network.

A great primer on the Dark Web is The Hidden Wiki.

There’s a new browser just out and it’s pretty cool, if I do say so myself. (my wife and I are the creators). It’s name is Surfy Browser http://www.surfybrowser.com
and it was recently app of the week on Gizmodo UK.

It has a passcode and fingerprint lock for launching the app or for individual bookmarks. You can save a session to a lockable tile and have private browsing automatically switched on. It has an ad blocker. It has text-to-speech, so you can listen to pages while browsing or using other apps. It has real swipable tabs, mobile optimizer.

It’s more customizable than other browsers; with 21 thousand color variations, you can set the color of the tabs, application bar, and accent; and even set the background to your favourite photo. There are too many features to list, but here are a few more:
    ✔ Desktop mode
✔ Multiple search providers: Google Bing DuckDuckGo Yahoo! Baidu
    ✔ Searchable history
✔ Clear cookies and cache with history.
✔ Set desktop or reading mode for individual tabs
    ✔ Night dimmer
✔ Pin pages to the Launch Pad

Also, we’re a mum and dad operation, not a big company that’s going to sell your data.
